Plato Baseball Tournament

4/12

The Plato Eagles lost to the Cabool Bulldogs 10-6 in 7 innings Saturday afternoon after the Cabool Bulldogs 10-run ruled the Newburg Wolves. The Houston Tigers won the Plato Tournament by way of a runs scored tie breaker.

4/11

The Plato Eagles beat the Houston Tigers 9-6 in 7 innings Friday night after the Houston Tigers beat the Cabool Bulldogs.

4/10

The Plato Eagles beat the Newburg Wolves 15-3 in the first game of the Round Robin Tournament. The game ended in the 5th inning when the won by the 10-run rule. The Eagles will play Houston Friday night, after the conclusion of the Houston and Cabool game.

Frisco League Baseball Tournament

3/26

The Baseball team won 3rd place in the Frisco League Tournament. They beat Licking 16-9 in a high scoring but low temperature game.

3/25

The Baseball team lost their second game of the season to Iberia in the second round of the Frisco League Tournament 8-1. They will play for 3rd place on the 26th against Licking.

3/22

The Baseball Team got the spring season to a good start by beating Crocker 10-0 in opening round of the Frisco League Tournament. The Eagles will play Iberia on March 25. The time of the game has been changed to 5:30 p.m.

 

Boys Basketball season ends at District Championship

The boys had a good season. The Eagles ended their season with a 47-41 loss to Iberia in the District Championship game. The Eagles finished the season with a record of 22-7. The Eagles disappointed to see their season end are optimistic for even a better year next year. The Eagles will return a strong core of underclassmen that should give them a jump start to another exciting year.

 

Boys District Tournament

2/26
The Plato Eagles beat Newburg 51-43 to advance to the District Championship game. They were down most of the game, not really getting a lead till the 4th quarter. A very hard fought game on both sides. Jalen Supancic led the team to another District win. They will play Iberia whom they lost to last Friday at Iberia. It'll be the 1 seed against the 2 seed.

Girls District Tournament

2/25
The Plato Lady Eagles beat Newburg 44-34 and will face Laquey for the District Championship on February 28.

 

Boys District Tournament

2/24
The Plato Eagles beat Vienna in a very close game in the first round of Districts. Late in the first half Vienna was down by 13 but hit a 3 at the buzzer to put them down by 10, 33-23 at the half. Vienna would out score Plato 19-10 in the 3rd to make it 43-42 after 3 quarters. Plato would end up pulling it out in the last couple minutes getting some steals and hitting some free throws to secure a 62-56 win, Plato's first win in Districts in 4 years. The Boys will play Newburg on 2/26 to see who will play for the Championship game, and face the winner of the Iberia and Richland game, who will play at 6:00 p.m. followed by Plato and Newburg at 7:30 p.m.

Mt. Grove Tournament Results

1/23 The Lady Eagles beat Dora 68-60 and will play Iberia on the 25th at home.

1/21 The Lady Eagles lost to Mt. Grove.

1/20 The Lady Eagles lost to Strafford.

Boys JV Conway Tournament

The JV team beat Warsaw by 21 points. They will face Conway on Friday, January 31st.

 

MAKE UP DATES!

The Varsity Boys will be playing Dixon on January 2nd for a makeup game of the Frisco League Tournament. The Varsity Girls will be playing on January 4th in the Championship game of the tournament against Licking. If the boys beat Dixon on the 2nd they will go on to play on the 4th
for Consolation.

Frisco League Girls Basketball Tournament
(Game Two):

The Varsity Girls beat Dixon in the second round game of the Frisco League Tounament. With the win the girls have moved on to play the Licking Lady Wildcats for the Championship.

 

Frisco League Boys Basketball Tournament(Day One):

The Varsity Boys got the seven seed in the Frisco League Tournament and got to play the two seeded Licking. Plato surprised some people hanging around with Licking and even getting within 3 points in the 4th quarter. Licking ended up pulling away though and won 59-51.

Frisco League Girls Basketball Tournament
(Day One):

The Varsity Girls got the two seed in the Frisco League Tournament and played the seventh seeded Newburg in the first round. It was a pretty close game at half-time, Plato down 38-35. The Lady Eagles came out pressing in the 3rd quarter and the young Newburg team couldn't handle the pressure. Although the Lady Wolves made a late game push, the Lady Eagles held on to win and advance to the winners side of the bracket. They will play Dixon on Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. at Laquey.

 

State Cross Country Results

The Boys Cross Country Team finished 5th which is one spot away from placing as a team. They were led by Senior Jalen Supancic who placed 21st. This was Jalen's first year earning All-State honors. Freshman, Alex Leitner was right behind him placing 22nd, earning All-State honors. The girls who finish 11th were led by Junior Lexi McNiel, who is the defending State Champ. She wasn't able to defend her title and placed 7th. This was Lexi's third year earning All-State honors. It was a very succesful year for the Plato Cross Country Team winning the Frisco League girls and boys, and making it to State

Frisco League Cross Country Meet, October 22, 2013

The Varsity Boys took first place as a team placing in the order of:Jalen Supancic (2nd), Alex Lietner (3rd), Dylan Lorenzen (5th), Brandyn Hoover (7th), Owen Sullins (10th), Wesley Wilson (13th), and Jacob Supancic (14th). All the boys were All-Conference individually and as a Team. As for the JV Boys they were led by Jaylan Miller who got 2nd place, followed by Blake Capowski who got 9th, and right behind him in 10th place was Rylee Foreman.

The Varsity Girls took first place as team as well. They placed in the order of: Lexi McNeil (1st), Shayln Barton (4th), Kora Freeman (6th), MacKenzie Morrison (7th), Devin Atterbetty (9th), Samantha Keeton (10th), and Hannah Breedlove (11th).

For the Junior High Boys Caden Hathaway got 2nd place followed by Brodie Combs who got 10th and Clay Atterberry who got 19th. The Junior High Girls were led by Brianna Foreman who got 11th, behind her was Hannah Wheatstone who got 14th, and Kyra Joiner was right behind her placing 15th.

Plato finished up the day taking home 2 first place plaques and 19 medals.

Pleasant Hope JV Volleyball Tournament
The Lady Eagles took 3rd Place in the
Pleasant JV Tournament. 

The JV dropped their first three matches in straight games of 23-25, 19-25 to Marionville; 19-25, 16-25 to Pleasant Hope; and 21-25, 21-25 to El Dorado Christian. 

The Lady Eagles bounced back in their final match defeating El Dorado Christian in straight games 25-14, 25-19 to claim 3rd place.

Middle School Vs. Laquey Basketball

The Middle School Girls swatted the Laquey Hornets to open the 2013 season taking both the A and B games. The Boys split with the Hornets, winning the B game but losing the A game.

Cross Country Willow Springs Results

Finishing for the Willow Springs meet for the boys went in this order: Jalen Supancic (14th), Alex Leitner (17th), Dylan Lorenzen in (32nd), Wesley Wilson (94th). The Boys as a team finished 14th among the Class 1-2 teams.

Finishing for the girls was Lexi McNiel (2nd), Shalyn Barton(19th), Hannah Breedlove (23rd), then MacKenzie Morrison (45th). The Girls placed 4th among the Class 1-2 teams.

The high school volleyball girls traveled to Conway for their season opener. The Lady Eagles dropped the season opener to Conway in straight games
25-27, 12-25. The JV dropped their match in straight games as well 21-25, 16-25

Cross Country Strafford Results

Saturday, we had a cross country meet in Strafford and the top 5 guys for our school went in this order: Jalen Supancic, Alex Leitner, Dylan Lorenzen, Keagan Adams, Jake Kinsman, and Brandon Hoover. Top 5 girls were: Lexi McNiel, Shalyn Barton, MacKenzie Morrison, Kora Freeman, and Devin Atterberry. The boys took 3rd place as a team.
