School Safety Announcement
Plato R-V Schools
On Friday, February 15th, the faculty/staff at Plato R-V Schools received information from Sgt. Tim Ceplina, Houston Police Department; Sheriff James Sigman and various members of the Texas County Sheriff’s Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol. Dr. Ben Yocom, Plato R-V Schools Superintendent states: “Having someone like Sgt. Ceplina and Sheriff Sigman visit Plato Schools and present their expertise on how we should handle violent situations will be very beneficial for us.”
The information will be specifically on “School Safety” and the “do’s and don’ts” during a violent situation. Sgt. Ceplina will give a presentation and all officers will participate in a “Question and Answer” session with the faculty and staff. The officers will then physically walk through the entire campus and provide an unofficial “Needs Assessment”. This will also familiarize the respective officers with the campus.
“The recent event in Connecticut has caused ALL of us to re-evaluate everything regarding School Safety”, Dr. Yocom stated further.
Dr. Yocom concluded, “Providing the safest environment is our highest priority; if students feel unsafe, they are less likely to learn and learning is why we are here!”
Barbara Barton Memorial Scholarship
Plato R-V Schools, her love of learning and her inspiration to our community; we would like to create a scholarship in her name. This year's seniors were Mrs. Barton's last group of 1st grade students. The type/amount of the scholarship will depend on the amount of funds generated. Ideally, this would become a yearly scholarship. Donations may be sent to:

Booster Club Throw
Show your Eagle Pride by purchasing a Woven Throw. The throws are 50 X 68 and are sure to keep you warm on a cool night or make a great Christmas gift. Orders can be placed in the Elementary office for $35.00. A sample of the throw is available in the Elementary office. The Booster club asks that you pay at time of order or make payment arrangements with a Booster Club Officer. Expected delivery is 3-4 weeks after orders are placed.
Parent Portal
Parents are invited to view their student’s information
on-line using the parent portal. The parent portal is a secured link, located on the Plato School home page, to your child’s personal information. Information that is available includes student assignments/grades, lunch account balances, teacher information, discipline, and medical and immunizations information to name just a few things. You can access the parent portal by contacting the Elementary or Middle/High School office for your parent portal password.

Distinction in Performance
The Plato School District has been accredited by the Department of Elementary and Secondary of Education (DESE) with Distinction in Performance. Missouri K-12 school districts must meet at least thirteen out of fourteen performance standards, including all six MAP standards to qualify.
